Not much going on today I think our dog Lucky is going to make it. I have fed it dog food and milk the last two days and she is regaining her strength back. I gave her a bath for the fungus she has and she follows me around while I do my chores. Dogs are not treated too well here and it pisses me and a lot of Americans off. One of our guests went back to Canada today and will return in November, so things will be a little boring around here for awhile. Kerry another guest is going back to the states also soon, so we have plenty of room now. We had our first murder in Corozal since I have been here the other night. A man stabbed his girlfriend to death Saturday night in a domestic dispute, and it is the first killing of that kind that I am aware of since I arrived in December. The woman was from Honduras and the man that stabbed her Darlene knows and has a history of domestic violence. He used to be married to a friend of hers and the woman left him for fear of her life. Still Belize is a pretty non-violent country and the only murders you hear about are gang-related in Belize City. It is the talk of the town the last couple of days and Corozal being such a gossipity place word spread like wildfire. There are hardly any handguns in Belize so most violence is fist fights or stabbings. No rain today and it has been hot and lots of sunshine and the pool was nice. Time now for my hot tub then dinner and some TV watching and then some sleeping with the bullfrogs and lizards. Later Stewart

Blue Shark Bar & Grill

A great new place has opened in Corozal The Blue Shark Bar and Grill. It is located at 2nd Street South, formerly was El Chital. It is under new management and it is owned and operated by Oswald and Rocky Matthews and thier brother-in-law Edgar. It just opened and thier hours are 6am-10pm daily. They have beer, liqour, wine, soft drinks, and natural juices. Rocky, Oswald’s wife learned to cook from working in casino kitchens in Las Vegas, Nevada and has brought that here to Belize. They have over 35 years combined in the catering business and are local Belizians who have come back to Belize to ply thier trade. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I had a breakfast burrito with orange juice which was one of the best I have ever had. They serve a gringo breakfast, which is eggs, bacon, and toast, which is hard to find in Belize. They have specials of the day, burgers, Mexicana platters, build your own taco platters, and of course the usual rice and beans with stewed chicken. They also have seafood dishes and will be serving pizza also. The prices are reasonable and they should get a lot of the Americans to eat there because good burgers and American style food are hard to find in Corozal. I liked the atmosphere because they play old country music there like Freddy Fender’s “Wasted Days and Wasted Nights” and othe old time classics. They also deliver, which is something you don’t see very much down here. So go by and see them if you have a chance. Stewart
